A golden glow is reminiscent of Greek gods and goddesses, so why wouldn’t we want to have one? Thankfully spray tans exists for us mortals, but as easy as it is to get them done, we still want them to last as long as possible on our skin; that’s why today we’re sharing our top 5 tips on how to maintain your spray tan:
Exfoliate: The key to making your tan last starts before you actually get your tan, because you need to exfoliate your entire body with a good scrub on the days before your tan and of course on the actual day of your appointment. This is going to get rid of all the dead skin cells that linger on top of our skin, and make sure it is smooth and ready for a tan.
Shower first: Always take the time to shower before going to get your spray tan, this way not only will your skin be clean and ready but you can also let the tan develop properly for as many hours as it needs to before you take your next shower.
Moisturize: After you’ve showered and exfoliated, make sure to use a nice hydrating lotion all over your body; try to avoid heavy moisturizers as well as oil-based ones because they can cause the tan to not adhere to the skin as much as it needs to, and there’s nothing worse than tanning dry and uneven skin. Then, make sure to moisturize every day after you’ve gotten your tan, this will maintain the skin hydrated and the tan in place for a lot longer.
Hydrate yourself: This ties with the previous tip, because drinking enough water keeps you hydrated on the inside which in turn provides more moisture to your skin.
Don’t sweat it off: If you’re really into exercise this might be difficult for you, but a lot of sweating can cause your tan to slip off a lot faster, so try to do exercises that don’t make you sweat excessively.
